Description of Incident:
The victim reported that as she walked along Adams Blvd, she was approached by two suspects. One suspect produced a handgun and demanded money. Since the victim had no money, the suspects walked her to a nearby ATM and forced her to withdraw cash. The suspects then left the victim, walking away east on Washington Blvd from Vermont. The victim was not harmed.
Following a joint LAPD and DPS investigation of the crime, and subsequent review of DPS and private surveillance video from several locations, detectives were able to identify the suspects involved in the robbery. On October 8, 2016 at approximately 11:45 pm, during a traffic stop in the area, one of the suspects and the weapon used in the commission of this crime were taken into custody without incident.
The weapon was determined to be an air soft firearm and not a real gun. A follow up investigation following the traffic stop resulted in the subsequent arrest of the second suspect. The victim was able to positively identify both suspects. Both suspects were arrested for Robbery (211 P.C.) and are in LAPD custody.
