Armed Robbery (Arrest)

In an effort to better communicate with the campus community about public safety issues, we are pleased to provide the following Incident Resolution Notice.

Notices of this nature detail instances in which DPS and/or LAPD have been able to bring a resolution to reported illegal acts affecting our community members.  We look forward to providing you with more updates of this nature.

Incident:       Armed Robbery

Date:               July 5, 2017, 10:15 PM

Location:      Adams Blvd. and Orchard Ave. (off campus)

Incident: Three USC students were walking near the above intersection when a dark vehicle pulled alongside of them and the passenger got out, brandished a shotgun, and demanded their property.  The suspect took a small amount of cash from one of the victims before reentering the car which sped away southbound on Orchard.

Disposition: LAPD took two suspects into custody following a high-speed pursuit that ended in collision in Orange County.   The two suspects are believed to be involved in as any as seven different robberies in the Los Angeles area.  Utilizing evidence gathered by the USC DPS’ camera surveillance system, the suspects have been implicated in the robbery of the USC students.  The suspects remain in the custody of the LAPD.
