HSC Robbery Suspect Arrested

In an effort to communicate with the campus community about public safety issues, we are pleased to provide the following Incident Resolution Notice:

Description of Crime:
On June 6, 2018, at 11:43 PM, the victim (not affiliated with the university) was standing at a taco truck parked on Soto Street waiting to purchase food when he was approached by the suspect. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s property.  The victim gave the suspect money and the suspect then fled on foot. The victim was not injured.

Disposition:
On June 9, 2018, at 1:00 AM, DPS officers monitored an LAPD radio call of a robbery that had just occurred outside of the HSC area. DPS officers notified LAPD that the description of the suspect matched that of the suspect in the recent robbery on Soto St. After an area wide search, a suspect was detained at the intersection of San Pablo Street and Valley Blvd. The suspect was positively identified as the person who committed the robbery of the taco truck customer.  The suspect was arrested for robbery by the LAPD.
