Robbery Arrest

In an effort to better communicate with the campus community about public safety issues, we are pleased to provide the following Incident Resolution Notice.

Notices of this nature detail instances in which DPS and/or LAPD have been able to bring a resolution to reported illegal acts affecting our community members.  We look forward to providing you with more updates of this nature.

Incident:
On Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at approximately 2:30 PM, DPS officers responded on a residential robbery investigation. The complainant, a USC student, said that at 2:30 PM he answered a knock at his door and was confronted by a suspect who struck him and forced his way into the victim’s apartment.  Once inside, the suspect ransacked the apartment before fleeing on foot.

When officers reviewed the incident on surveillance video, they recognized the suspect as the same person involved in a theft that was reported earlier in the day.

Disposition:
Approximately 90 minutes later, LAPD took a suspect into custody for burglarizing vehicles near 37th and Flower Street. DPS officers responded to assist LAPD and discovered that the suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, was the same person involved in the residential robbery.  The suspect is currently in the custody of LAPD.
