Robbery/Kidnap Arrest

While walking away from her residence, a student was accosted by a man with a knife who forced her to walk to an ATM in an attempt to withdraw cash.  When unsuccessful, the man forced the student to walk to her residence in order to get him money.   After obtaining cash, the suspect fled on an electric scooter.

Approximately one hour later, the same suspect, still riding an electric scooter, attempted to rob another student who was walking with her mother on 37 St. near Vermont Ave.  The suspect was unsuccessful in his robbery attempt and rode away on the scooter.

Neither victim was injured.

Disposition: LAPD, working in collaboration with DPS, developed significant leads in this investigation and identified an 18 year old male from Los Angeles as the suspect.   The suspect was arrested earlier today by detectives and remains in the custody of the LAPD.
