Sexual Battery (Suspect in Custody)

Description of Incident:
The victim said that the suspect – a 38-year-old male, Black, wearing maroon colored clothing – walked up to her and attempted to engage her in a conversation. After the victim walked away, the suspect slapped her buttocks. The suspect ran southbound on Hoover Street, then eastbound onto Jefferson Boulevard. A few minutes later, the suspect was observed by DPS surveillance camera operators via closed-circuit television (CCTV) at the corner of Jefferson and Hoover possibly attempting to assault another victim.

Disposition:
On August 31, 2020, at 2:59 p.m., DPS officers observed the suspect in the area and detained him. Upon completing their investigation, the suspect was positively identified by the initial victim and was arrested and taken into custody for sexual battery.

Location:             32nd Street and Hoover Street (off-campus)
