INCIDENT DESCRIPTION: The suspect approached the victim from behind and demanded his phone. When the victim refused, the suspect displayed a handgun in his waistband. The victim yelled that the police were on the way, and the suspect fled.
REPORTED OFFENSE: Attempted Robbery. DPS received the report of this crime more than 24 hours after it was committed.
DATE & TIME OF OCCURRENCE: Sept. 23, 2020, at approximately 3 p.m.
LOCATION: Hoover Street at 23rd Street (off-campus)
SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: Male, Black, approximately 26-years-old, 6 feet 4 inches tall, 260 pounds, full beard, wearing a white tank top, green jacket, blue jeans and tan Timberland-style boots.
SUSPECT VEHICLE: None.
