Incident description: While investigating another case, a Department of Public Safety (DPS) officer witnessed the suspect enter a running, unoccupied car and drove away from the location. The DPS office called over the radio that a grand theft auto had just occurred, and Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) began a pursuit.
Time & date of incident: Approximately 6 p.m. on March 31, 2021
Location: Off campus at 3533 S. Flower St.
Incident resolution: LAPD caught the suspect at 28th Street at Griffith Street. The suspect was arrested and transported to the LAPD for booking on grand theft auto charges.
