Bicycle, Scooter, and Skateboard Registration

Registration makes it easy to identify your property when recovered after stolen or lost.

New! Students may register scooters and skateboards.

Per USC Policy, all faculty, staff and students who ride or park a bike on campus need to register it with DPS. By registering your bicycle, you provide DPS with a means of identifying your bike if it is lost, stolen, recovered or impounded.

There is no cost for the registration.

1. Locate your bike’s serial number.

In order for the bicycle registration system to be effective, this information must be accurate. The recorded number must be your serial number, not a brand name or model designation. Serial numbers are usually a combination of letters and numbers stamped on the bicycle’s frame. The majority of serial numbers are located under the bottom bracket where the two pedal cranks meet.

Having trouble locating it? Read our tips on finding your serial number.

2. Fill out our online registration form.

Please submit the form before visiting us at Parking Structure A (PSA) on campus (step 3). It can take up to 30 minutes for new submissions to process.

3. Visit the DPS office to pick up your registration decals.

After completing the registration process, you will receive an automated receipt via e-mail. Please print a copy* and bring it with you to the DPS office to pick up your registration decal. DPS is located at PSA on campus.

*We recommend you print a second copy of your receipt for your personal records.

4. Apply the decal to your bicycle.

After receiving your decal, place the decal on your bicycle frame as seen in the photo (right). The decal must be visible.
