Attempted Robbery-Suspect in Custody

Incident description: A male suspect entered the lobby of Domino’s Pizza and waited until the cashier opened the register for a customer. As soon as the register was opened, the suspect reached over the counter and grabbed the cash box. The cashier and the suspect struggled, and the suspect was unable to take the cash box from the cashier and fled northbound on Figueroa Street. The cashier then notified the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Incident resolution: Shortly after a description of the suspect was broadcast over the police radio by LAPD, USC Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers located the suspect and detained him. Later, the witness positively identified the suspect. The suspect was arrested by DPS officers and booked for investigation of attempted robbery at the LAPD.

Time & date of incident: 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 7, 2021

Location: Off campus in the 2800 block of South Figueroa Street.
